It's that time of year again. A new me, new attitude sentiment getting thrown around. Something in me is ready for this. This change of season, this year.
I normally don't do resolutions, but this year I'm heading into 2024 with a whole new attitude, and I hear myself saying, "I'm here for this." Past thoughts had me thinking winter is so daunting, cold, no life outside. Until a client told me about this podcast, a phrase called Wintering. https://open.spotify.com/episdode/3g9FrSfrZfa5I3GIE10pCX?si=pidmuNnWRpa80NKrrdwIVg THIS was something I could totally vibe with. The thought of hunkering down. Hibernating, staying cozy. Eating nourishing meals, reading, sleeping a little more. This was just the thing this girl needed. A self care kind of vacation. I needed this! I craved this. Let's face it. We're here, we might as well embrace this hygge lifestyle, enjoy the cold dark nights, stay home more. Indulge in self care rituals, like taking a bath, lighting some candles, going to bed earlier. This is our time to make time for ourselves, to renew and repair our body, mind and soul. This new month, I'm all about wellness and self care. Here are some small steps to take you into this wintering season. Take a bath, adding some oils, moisturizing with shea butter, or try a self massage. Morning stretches, or yoga, light a candle. Take a tea break during the day. Mindfully drink it for just a few minutes. Taking a in and out breath. Make a stew, soup or roast. Go to bed a little earlier and wake up a little early. Journal. Take time to slow down, and find the warmth and comfort in the season. Happy new year! *Kripalu has a 30 day journaling challenge that I'm going to participate in. Let me know if you do it! October is my month of preparation, and listening to all the things the season is telling me! I don't know if it is because the back to school season has fully gotten underway or what, but it always inspires me to learn something new and plan for the future. If you follow any of my posts regularly, you know I have been leaning into slowing down which has been mostly helpful, although I can get impatient with myself at times. I'm looking into my shadowy corners this year and acknowledging them to release blockages that are in the way of joyfulness. That is also a lesson in grace and forgiveness, untangling the way I respond to myself and others.
Hi! it’s me. Becky. (That still hasn’t gotten old yet) I wanted to share this space with you. September is always been a favorite month of mine. Virgo season, my birthday month!
The Autumn Equinox, and back to school which represents learning at any age. For me, it's a time of reflection and growth. Lots of tiny little milestones. I am going be turning 48, my daughter Bella is turning 21, and my son, Ryder is starting 9th grade. Feeling melancholy with them getting older. I find myself reminiscing of their little years. I started a meditation practice almost 2 years ago, and in April I finished my Yoga Teacher Training. Something I had wanted to for so long. And then the time was just to got. I will be starting up a small yoga class in our space this month. I’m excited and nervous to share that with people. Menopausal skin is here. I’m dry, still getting breakouts, and the redness in my cheeks is more prominent. Skin cycling has helped me get back to my skin functioning better. What is skin cycling? It is a skin care routine, with the main focus on keeping a healthy skin barrier. By rotating different products, on a 4 day cycle. Exfoliating, retinol and hydrating.
